I am thrilled to announce the Seventh Annual New Directions exhibition, Beautiful My Desire. Curated this year by Ann Jastrab of Rayko Photo Center in San Francisco, Ann’s focus is on light, both emotional and physical, and how we manifest that vision through photography.
Beautiful My Desire
4 January – 3 February, 2013 – Santa Barbara, California
5 February – 17 March, 2012 – Seattle, Washington
Artist Reception
Friday 4 January, 2013 6 to 8pm
As the 7th Annual showcase, we at the gallery have been honored to work with some of the best curators in the country, all focused on a unique vision of what is trending, or exciting in photography. I have loved the opportunity to see and showcase work that is out of my visual mainstream. The diversity of work present and past allows me to grow and learn as well as having the honor to showcase some creative work from new artists.
As I have been hanging the exhibition this week, I am struck by the quiet beauty of these images. The diversity of ideas and techniques make for disparate voices uniting to identify the intangible. The idea of illumination, of light and shadow, of inner beauty and emotional luminance is evident in so many of these images. It is show to be viewed over and over, finding new ideas, nuances in each piece. Explore what it means to be part of this global community through the eyes of these great photographers.
